What Makes A Successful Place?

It's the dialogue of the pieces, not the pieces themselves that creates aesthetic, function success. It is important that each public space is accessible, people engage themselves in a variety of activities there, the space is comfortable and safe, and that it is a sociable place.

Great chart. I have to believe that safety is a huge factor. If you are not comfortable to bring your kids or bike to an area then you won't use it no matter how many attactions it has.

Thanks-- interesting enough, this chart was pasted as graffiti on the wall of one of the streets we walked through while being here in Barcelona. So I took it as a sign & ran with it.
